3-day digital online fair kicks-off in Khulna

KHULNA, June 29, 2020 (BSS) – With a view to providing digital services to the people for building a digital service-recipient community, a three-day ‘Online Platform Digital Fair-2020? as elsewhere in the country was inaugurated here today morning.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader inaugurated the fair through Zoom online platform from his office’s conference room as chief guest with deputy commissioner Md. Helal Hossain in the chair.

The district administration organised the fair with the initiative of the government’s information and communication technology department and in collaboration with the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department and A2i (Access to information).

The chief guest said during Covid-19 pandemic, the fair is a step towards providing extensive e- services to the citizen. Through this fair, people from district level will get the scope of getting aware of the e-services.

As a whole, the digitisation process has already created scope of employment and income generation in various ways including outsourcing, selling products through e-shop and providing different services at the Union Information Service Centres (UISCs), he added.

“Due to the corona situation in the country, fairs have been organised digitally in 64 districts…This is a unique example in the implementation of Digital Bangladesh,” the Divisional Commissioner said.

The overall activities of the entire fair will be showcased through Zoom Conference, Facebook and YouTube Live.

The main aim of the fair is to include different texts, presentations, photographs, videos and other information on digital activities of districts in the National Portal and presenting those to the people.

ICT Division and a2i are jointly organizing the three-day fair in all 64 districts through Bangladesh National Portal, which can be visited by clicking on the link- https://bangladesh.gov.bd/site/view/digitalfair2020.
