Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, June 21, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicated light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind in most of the divisions of the country.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the country, a met release said this morning.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.

The axis of Monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to Northeast Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and the minimum temperature today 24.8 degrees Celsius at Cox’s Bazar.

The highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 61millimeters (mm) at Tetulia.

Today’s sunset at Dhaka at 06-49 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 05-13 am.
