PANCHAGARH, June 16, 2020 (BSS)- Farmers in the district are overwhelmed with bumper production and fair price of Boro paddy in the current season .
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said 29, 125 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in the district with the production target of 1, 21,000 metric tonnes of rice.
The DAE department has supplied high quality of Boro seeds among the farmers at free of cost .The department has imparted with modern technology training to the farmers about Boro cultivation for bumper production.
The cultivation of Boro paddy was free from pest attack in any natural disaster.
Now the Boro paddy is being sold at TK 850 to 900 per mound(40 kilograms ) in the local bazaar. Farmer Ferdous Ali of sadar upazila said that he had cultivated Boro paddy on two bighas of land and he got 45 mounds of paddy.He has got profit of TK 24,000 after mitigating all expenditure.
Deputy director of DAE of Panchagarh Mohammad Abu Hanif told BSS that low land of this region is very conducive for Boro cultivation and favourable weather condition , proper monitoring of Agriculture department helped bumper production of the paddy.
