Inclusive education for physically challenged children stressed

RAJSHAHI, Aug 23, 2017 (BSS)-Speakers at a discussion here have underlined the need for ensuring inclusive education for the children with special needs for establishing their legitimate rights in society.

They categorically stated that the overall livelihood development of children couldn’t be possible until their social and educational integration is ensured substantially.

They made this observation while distributing assistive devises among 15 physically challenged children at Paba Upazila Parishad Complex Auditorium in the district.

Upazila Education Department and Department of Social Services jointly organized the distribution programme. Ayen Uddin, MP, and Upazila Chairman Begum Khairunnessa addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Alammgir Kabir in the chair.

Upazila Vice-chairman Ashraful Haque, Nawhata Pourasava Mayor Mokbul Hossain and Social Service Officer Rabiul Islam also spoke.

Lawmaker Ayen Uddin said emphasis should be given to enhancing knowledge about inclusive education among teachers and respective officials as well as members of school management committee.

He underlined the need for establishing the educational rights of the children with disabilities through the best uses of the existing resources and infrastructural facilities and the teachers’ expertise.

Terming the physically challenged people an integral part of the society, he put emphasis on mainstreaming them through creating a disabled-friendly atmosphere everywhere particularly at the educational institutions.

Ayen Uddin mentioned that a friendly atmosphere will help flourishing latent talents of the physically challenged children along with their rehabilitation.
