Tajul lauds Padma water treatment plant officials

DHAKA, June 4, 2020 (BSS)- Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam today visited the Padma (Jashaldia) Water Treatment Plant in Munshiganj to look after the officials physically who are working there during the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

A total of 125 engineers, officials and employees, including 25 Chinese nationals, have been working in the plant to run the operations by maintaining health guidelines for the last three months.

The minister praised them for continuing the plant’s operations during this tough time of pandemic and inquired about their health conditions.

Tajul said the government has taken all necessary steps to check the spread of Covid-19.

During the visit to the treatment plant, the minister was accompanied, among others, by Managing Director of Dhaka WASA Engr. Taqsem A Khan.

The Padma Water Treatment Plant has been installed at a cost of Tk 3,670 crore in Medini Mandal Union of Louhajang upazila under Munshiganj district with a capacity of supplying 45 crore litres of water per day in the capital.
