38 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 3, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-eight more people were tested
positive for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in
Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 38 infected patients of different
places in six northern districts of the division were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples at the two laboratories.

Of them, 15 new patients of different places in Rangpur, Gaibandha
and Kurigram districts were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at
the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur
city.

“The new patients include seven of Rangpur, six of Gaibandha and two
of Kurigram districts” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and
Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM
Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 23 new infected patients were reported after
diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 23 new COVID-19 patients include 13 of Dinajpur, six of
Nilphamari and four of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients rose to 1,259 as 38 new cases were reported from five
districts of Rangpur division today.

“The district-wise break up of the COVID-19 patients stands at 442
in Rangpur, 84 in Panchagarh, 153 in Nilphamari, 47 in Lalmonirhat, 75
in Kurigram, 122 in Thakurgaon, 268 in Dinajpur and 68 Gaibandha
districts in the division,” Dr. Siddique said.

Among the total 1,259 patients, 435 already recovered and 21 died
till Tuesday and 803 others are undergoing treatments now at the 15
dedicated corona hospitals or at their respective homes in Rangpur
division, he added.
