NDTF to divide country into red, yellow, green zones: Palak

DHAKA, June 3, 2020 (BSS) – National Data Analysis Task Force (NDTF) will work to divide the country into three colour zones – red, green, and yellow – to control the infection and death rates from COVID-19, said State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

“NDTF would divide the country into red, yellow and green zones and present the proposals to the Health Ministry on how to turn the red and yellow zones into green,” said Palak, also the NDTF chairman, while presiding over a virtual meeting on Tuesday, said a press release.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division has introduced four digital platforms, including a personal risk assessment web tool, to create awareness among people and provide latest information about coronavirus.

Recently, an inter-ministerial meeting decided to divide the country into these three colors based on the number of coronavirus cases.

Emphasising on ‘data’, the junior minister said, “Data would be one of the main important assets in economy in future. Those who will be enriched with data would be successful in achieving their goals.”

NDTF member ICT senor secretary N M Ziaul ALam and additional secretary Rashedul Islam, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Shamsul Arefin, project director of a2i Dr Abdul Mannan and policy adviser Anir Chowdhury were present at the meeting, among others.
