39 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 2, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-nine more people were tested
positive for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in
Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 39 infected patients of different
places in five northern districts were reported after diagnosing 376
samples at the two laboratories.

Of them, 16 new infected patients of different places in Rangpur,
Gaibandha and Kurigram districts were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC)
in Rangpur city.

“The new patients include nine of Rangpur city area, two of
Gaibandha, one Kurigram and three of Lalmonirhat districts” said Chief
of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

Meanwhile, 23 new infected patients were reported after diagnosing
188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical
College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“All of the 23 new COVID-19 cases reported are hailing from
Dinajpur town and different upazilas of Dinajpur district alone,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients rose to 1,222 as 39 new cases were reported from five
districts of Rangpur division.

“The district-wise break up of the patients stands at 436 in
Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 148 in Nilphamari, 47 in Lalmonirhat, 73 in
Kurigram, 122 in Thakurgaon, 254 in Dinajpur and 62 Gaibandha
districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
