KHULNA, June 1, 2020 (BSS) – Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid today distributed foodstuffs among 3,700 distressed, poor and jobless people as the government continued to provide its assistance to mitigate their sufferings, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chairman distributed foodstuff and others essential relief materials among 150 distressed people at its 15 wards in the city on behalf of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, aimed at mitigating their financial hardship amid the corona virus situation by strictly maintaining physical distancing.
Each of the beneficiaries received a sac of seven kilogram of rice, potato, soya-bin oil, pulse, soaps and masks.
President of Khulna Press Club S M Nazrul Islam, former President Mokbul Hossain Mintu, President of Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) Mahbubur Rahman Sohag, Former President S M Zahid Hossain, ZP Executive Officer Asaduzzaman, Assistant Engineer Hafizur Rahman, Administrative Officer S M Mahbubur Rahman, Sub-Assistant Engineer Biplob Kumar Biswas, among others, were present.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Navy personnel separately distributed relief materials and leaflets on awareness building among the destitute and sprayed germicides on different roads in Khulna, Barguna and Bagerhat districts today.
