COVID-19 positive cases ascent to 558 in Khulna division

KHULNA, June 1, 2020 (BSS) – The entire number of the caseload for COVID-
19 has surged to 558 in Khulna division with the highest 39 more in a single day,
COVID-19 cases were detected after testing their samples at the three COVID -19
laboratories in the division in last 24 hours till 12 noon today.

“Meanwhile, 242 coronavirus patients recovered so far out of total 558 infected persons with a recovery rate of 43.36 percent in Khulna division,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients stand at 23 in Khulna, seven in
Bagerhat, one in Satkhira, 74 in Jashore, 24 in Jhenaidah, 18 in Magura, two in
Narail, 28 in Kushtia, 60 in Chuadanga and five in Meherpur districts in the
division.

“We received 189 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and other
samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours and 39 of those
were found COVID-19 positive,” Dr. Ferdousi said.

Of the newly affected persons, six in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, five in Jashore, four
in Jhenaidhah, five in Magura, four in Narail, six in Kustia, six in Chuadanga and
one in Meherpur districts.

Of the total 558 patients, 84 are in Khulna, 30 in Bagerhat, 45 in Satkhira, 109 in
Jashore, 53 in Jhenaidah, 26 in Magura, 26 in Narail, 64 in Kustia, 96 in
Chuadanga and 25 in Meherpur, she said.

Besides, a total of six people, including husband, wife and son, have been infected
with corona in a family resident at Sheikh para in Khulna city.

A total of ten fatalities were reported so far with four in Khulna, two in Bagerhat,
one each in Chuadanga and Narail and two in Meherpur districts.

Among the total 558 coronavirus infected persons, 105 are undergoing treatment at
isolation units of different hospitals after release of 242 recovered patients and 10
deaths while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective
homes in the division.
