384 recover from COVID-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 1, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 384 coronavirus (COVID-19) patients
recovered among a total of 1,137 infected people in all eight districts of
Rangpur division till 8 am today.

With the healing of 22 more COVID-19 patients, including 10 in Rangpur,
three each in Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Dinajpur, two in Panchagarh and one in
Nilphamari during the period, the number of recovered patients raised to 384
in the division.

“The percentage of recovery rate now stands at 33.77 in the division,” Focal
Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA
Siddiqui told BSS at 11 am today.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients stand at 161 of Rangpur, 17
of Panchagarh, 51 of Nilphamari, 21 of Lalmonirhat, 35 of Kurigram, 25 of
Thakurgaon, 52 of Dinajpur and 22 of Gaibandha districts.

“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, all of the recovered patients
were discharged from the 15 Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals in all eight
districts of the division declaring them recovered,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

At the same time, a total of 17 COVID-19 patients died with the fatality
rate of 1.50 percent in six districts of the division.

“The 17 deceased persons include eight of Rangpur, three of Gaibandha, two
each of Nilphamari and Panchagarh, one each of Dinajpur and Thakurgaon
districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Meanwhile, 28 new COVID-19 positive cases were diagnosed with the deadly
virus on Sunday after testing 372 collected samples at the two COVID-19
Laboratories in Rangpur division raising the number of patients to 1,137.

“The district-wise break up of the 1,137 patients stands at 417 in Rangpur,
80 in Panchagarh, 129 in Nilphamari, 44 in Lalmonirhat, 71 in Kurigram, 111 in
Thakurgaon, 227 in Dinajpur and 58 Gaibandha districts in the division,” Dr.
Siddiqui said.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan said
1,137 COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing a total 15,108
collected samples till Sunday night with 7.52 percent positive cases so far in
the division.

Among the total 1,137 coronavirus patients, 206 are undergoing treatments at
isolation units of different hospitals, 384 were released after recovery, 17
died and 530 taking treatments in isolation at homes.

“Since the beginning from March 10 last, a total of 38,403 people were put
in quarantine, and of them, 33,032 released and 5,371 are currently remaining
in home or institutional quarantine in Rangpur division,” Dr. Khan added.

During the last 24 hours, 413 people were put in quarantine at home or
institutions and 690 others released in the division.

After getting a total of 1,31,759 pieces of personal protective equipment so
far, we have already distributed 79,252 pieces of the same with a stock of
52,507 pieces in stock in the division.

“We have 1,123 physicians, 1,757 nurses and 5,907 other staff to provide
treatments to the patients at 25 institutional quarantine and isolation
centres with 2,552 beds and 13 beds with 13 ventilators at two intensive care
units now,” Dr. Khan said.
