SSC results announced, average pass 82.87 pc

DHAKA, May 31, 2020 (BSS) – The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations-2020 under 11 education boards were published today with 82.87 percent pass.

“A total of 1,690,523 students out of 2,040,028 have become successful in the SSC and equivalent examinations this year,” Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni told a virtual briefing on SSC result at her ministry here.

Last year, a total of 21, 27,815 students appeared in the SSC and equivalent examinations under the 10 education boards, she added. Of them, 17,49,165 students passed the examination with 82.20 percent success rate, the education minister said.

Dipu Moni said a total of 1,35,898 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the SSC and equivalent examinations under 11 education boards across the country this year which was 1,05,594 last year.

Among the GPA-5 holders this year, 65,754 are male while 70,144 are female students, she added.

A total of 1,23,497 students achieved GPA-5 under nine general education boards, while 7516 students obtained the grade under madrasa education board and 4885 under technical education board.

Dr Dipu said different initiatives of the ministry have played a positive role in improving some indicators of the results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.

“Some positive indications have been noticed in the index of this year’s results of SSC and equivalent examinations. Different initiatives, include distribution of free textbooks in time, broadcasting teaching sessions on television by the teachers of the country’s best schools,” she added.

A total of 3,023 educational institutions achieved 100 percent pass rate in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations, while the number was 2,583 last year.

Of those, 157 institutions are from Dhaka, 308 from Rajshahi, 162 from Cumilla, 250 from Jashore, 50 from Chattogram, 54 from Barishal, 43 from Sylhet, 122 from Dinajpur, 21 from Mymensingh while 1756 are under Madrasa Board and 100 under Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB).

Students from 104 schools and madrasas under six education boards out of 11 boards failed to come out successful in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.

The board-wise number of such institutions is one in Dhaka Board, two in Jashore Board, one in Dinajpur Board, two in Mymensingh Board, 48 in Madrasa Board and 50 in Technical Education Board.

The number of schools and madrasas with “zero results” was 107 last year Rajshahi Education Board has secured the top position among 11 education boards with 90.37 percent pass rate in the SSC and equivalent examinations this year.

The pass rate of Dhaka Board is 82.34 percent, while it is 85.22 percent in Cumilla Board, 79.70 percent in Barishal Board, 87.31 percent in Jashore Board, 82.73 percent in Dinajpur Board, 84.75 percent in Chattogram Board, 78.79 percent in Sylhet Board, 80.13 percent in Mymensingh Board, 82.51 percent in Madrasah Board and 72.70 percent in Technical Education Board.

Technical Education Board fell at the bottom of this year’s SSC and equivalent examination results in terms of pass rate, according to the results published here today.

The pass rate of Technical Education Board is 72.70 while Rajshahi Education board secured the top position with 90.37 percent pass rate.

The pass rate of Dhaka Board is 82.34 percent, while it is 85.22 percent in Cumilla Board, 79.70 percent in Barishal Board, 87.31 percent in Jashore Board, 82.73 percent in Dinajpur Board, 84.75 percent in Chattogram Board, 78.79 percent in Sylhet Board, 80.13 percent in Mymensingh Board and 82.51 percent in Madrasah Board.

As many as 318 students of nine foreign centres have come out successful in the SSC examinations this year with 94.96 percent pass rate.

A total of 336 students from nine educational institutions appeared in the examinations this year.
