Preparatory meeting on Eid-ul-Azha held in Khulna

Khulna, August 22, 2017 (BSS) – Aimed at making the celebration of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest festival of the Muslims,

smooth and hassle-free, a preparatory meeting was held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) here today.

With Deputy Commissioner Amin ul Ahsan in the chair, the meeting was attended by officials, elites, freedom fighters, journalists and Imams. It was decided that like previous years the main Eid congregation will be held at 8am and the second Jamaat will be held at 9:30am at Khulna Circuit House Eidgah.

In case of inclement weather, the congregations will be held at 8am and 9:30am at Town Jame mosque.

It was decided that Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) would take tight security measures before and after the Eid.

The deputy commissioner also requested police to remain alert against extortionists saying that they could not collect toll halting trucks and buses on the streets in the name of Pourashava or workers union.

The DC also advised district administration, police, health, Road and Highway Department to form ‘Quic Response Team’ for tackle any untoward situation before and after the Eid.

The meeting was decided that Khulna City Corporation Authority (KCC) would take all necessary measures for properly and befittingly preparing the prayer places.

The KCC authorities has selected 172 slaughtering spots and taken steps to remove animals disposal from the city within 24 hours of slaughtering.

Power Development Board (PDB) was requested to ensure uninterrupted electricity in all the areas under its coverage.

It was further decided that a vigilance team consisting of law enforcing agencies people, bus owners association and district administration will be formed to ensure fair price of the tickets of the inter-district coaches.
