KHULNA, May 29, 2020 (BSS) – The government has so far distributed 25,557 tonnes of rice and Taka 12.06 crore in cash among 27.50 lakh jobless and needy families in Khulna division in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
“Till Thursday, we distributed 17,588 tonnes of rice among 15.78-lakh families and Taka 9.20 crore among 11.71-lakh families in all ten districts of the division,” said Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Hossain Ali Khondokar.
As on Friday, the all ten district administrations have stocks of 7,968 tonnes of rice and Taka 2.80 crore and are continuing getting more allocation of rice and money frequently from the government to stand beside the jobless people.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) of Khulna Azizul Haque Zoarder said the government has allocated 4,240 tonnes of rice and Taka 1.58cr under the special relief program for distribution among the jobless and needy families of the district.
“We distributed 3,329 tonnes of rice among 2.34-lakh jobless and needy families and Taka 1.47 crore among 1.23-lakh families of all nine upazilas, Khulna City Corporation and two municipalities of the district.
“Currently, we have a stock of 911 tonnes of rice and Taka 10.40-lakh,” he said.
Similarly, distribution of 2,447 tonnes of rice among 2.18-lakh families and Taka 1.04 crore among 2.19-lakh families in Bagerhat and 1,816 tonnes of rice among 1.81-lakh families and Taka 92.21-lakh among 1.81-lakh families in Satkhira completed.
The district administrations distributed 2,452 tonnes of rice among 2.45-lakh families and Taka 1.67 crore among 2.45-lakh families in Jashore and 1,752 tonnes of rice among 1.45-lakh families and Taka 70.72-lakh among 35,000 families in Narail and 655 tonnes of rice among 64,030 families and 31.92-lakh among 56,080 families in Magura districts.
Besides, distribution of 1,482 tonnes of rice among 1.46-lakh needy families and Taka 76.01-lakh among 70,923 families in Jhenaidah and 1,313 tonnes of rice among 1.35-lakh families and Taka 1.39 crore among 1.35-lakh families in Kustia completed.
In Chuadanga, distribution of 1,508 tonnes of rice among 1.50-lakh families and Taka 71.98-lakh among 85,959 families and 858 tonnes of rice among 63,117 families and Taka 25.99-lakh among 18,386 families in Meherpur completed.
Currently, Bagerhat district administration has 1,302 tonnes of rice and Taka 57.95-lakh and Satkhira district administration 284 tonnes of rice and Taka 12.40-lakh and Jashore district administration 392 tonnes of rice and Taka 13.11-lakh in their respective stocks.
Narail district administration had 184 tonnes of rice and Taka 2.04-lakh and Magura district administration had 1,224 tonnes of rice and Taka 40.12-lakh in their respective stocks.
Besides, Jhenaidah district administration has 546 tonnes of rice and Taka 28.15-lakh and Kustia district administration has 1,467 tonnes of rice and Taka 43 14-lakh in their respective stocks.
Chuadanga district administration had 474 tonnes of rice and Taka 26.51-lakh and Meherpur district administration had 1,182 tonnes of rice and Taka 45.76-lakh in their respective stocks.
