11 more test COVID-19 positive in Khulna division

KHULNA, May 26, 2020 (BSS) – Eleven more persons were diagnosed coronavirus (COVID-19) positive after testing their samples at the three COVID -19 laboratories in the division in last 24 hours till 12 noon today, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 432.

The newly detected 11 COVID-19 patients include eight in Khulna, two in Bagerhat and one in Magura districts under the division.

“We received 94 samples of suspected coronavirus patients at KMC in Khulna and other samples in Jashore and Kustia laboratories in the last 24 hours and 11 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther.

She informed that the total number of infected persons rose to 432 after testing their samples at the three regional COVID-19 laboratories till 12 noon today, since April 7.

Of the total 432 patients, 56 are in Khulna, 25 in Bagerhat, 34 in Satkhira, 97 in Jashore, 47 in Jhenaidah, 20 in Magura, 22 in Narail, 35 in Kustia, 85 in Chuadanga and 11 in Meherpur, she said.

At the same time, a total of eight fatalities were reported so far with three in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, one each in Chuadanga, Narail and Meherpur districts in Khulna division.

Among the total 432 coronavirus infected patients, 86 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after release of 152 recovered patients and eight deaths while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division.

“Since the beginning on March 10 last, a total of 33,344 people were put in quarantine, and of them, 29,180 were released so far and 4,164 are currently in home or institutional quarantine in Khulna division,” said Divisional Director (Health) for Khulna Division Dr. Rasheda Sultana.

During the last 24 hours till 12 noon today, 929 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions while 187 others released from all 10 districts in the division.

A total of 3,232 suspected COVID-19 patients were put in institutional quarantine in different hospitals so far and of them, 3,103 were released in the division.

“Besides, 473 suspected coronavirus patients were admitted to the isolation units of different hospitals since the beginning, and of them, 203 were released and 270 are undergoing treatment,” Dr. Rasheda added.
