NETRAKONA, May 26, 2020 (BSS) – The holy Eid-ul-fitr, the greatest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated here with due solemnity and religious fervor amid COVID-19 situation.
All the Eid congregations were held at mosques instead of open spaces or Eidghas under the supervision of the local administrations and Islamic foundations as per the directives of the government.
Muslim devotees offered Eid prayers at the mosques maintaining physical distancing, wearing masks and abiding by the health guidelines.
Following instructions of the Islamic foundation, soaps and hand sanitizers were made available at the entrances of all the mosques for washing hands.
The main EID congregation was held at Netrakona central Jam-E-Mosque at 9am conducted by chief imam of the mosque Moulana Azizur Rahman.
State minister for social welfare and valiant freedom fighter Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru MP, Mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, district Awami League leaders, civil society members, journalists and a large number of devotees offered prayer there by maintaining three feet distance from each other and abiding by other health safety rules.
Meanwhile, three eid congregations were held at the mosque one after another since 9 am.
Another biggest Eid congregation was held at the Mazer Sharif mosque of reputed Muslim saint of the sub-continent Hazrat Shah Sultan Kamaruddin Rumi (RA) in Modanpur area in the morning.
Other Eid congregations were held in the morning at different mosques here including Miftaulum Madrasha mosque, Alia Madrasa mosque, district collectorate and upazila Jam-E-Mosques.
A large number of devotees offered eid prayers there by abiding health directives.
District administration took tight security measures for celebrating the eid festival peacefully.
The national flag was hoisted atop of all the public and private buildings in the district.
The government provided improved food-items among the inmates of the jails , hospitals and orphan family centers in the district on the occasion.
