RCCI for keeping shops, shopping malls closed

RANGPUR, May 16, 2020 (BSS) – Leaders of Rangpur Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (RCCI) in an emergency meeting today called for
keeping business shops and shopping malls closed from May 17 to
prevent community transmission of coronavirus.

President of RCCI Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu presided over the
meeting held at the RCCI auditorium with participation of the city and
district unit leaders of the trade bodies.

The event has been arranged as people in the business places were
violating the health directives of the government with a mad rush
causing abnormal rises of infection rate of COVID-19 in Rangpur.

Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostoba Hossain Ripon, General
Secretary (GS) of city Awami League Tushar Kanti Mandal, President of
Nababganj Bazar Traders’ Association Saiful Islam, its GS and RCCI
Director Md. Akbar Ali, President of City Shop Owners’ Association
Zaved Hossain Jewell, its GS Joynal Abedin, and GS of Zila Parishad
Super Market Shop Owners’ Association Rashidul Alam Bulbul, and GS of
District Cookeries Traders’ Association and RCCI Director Obaidur
Rahman Ratan, among others, spoke.

Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Titu said common people
and representatives of different professions are becoming infected
with COVID-19 everyday.

He called upon all to maintain physical distance, abide by the
health directives of the government and keep the business shops,
shopping malls and other markets closed from tomorrow to prevent
further infection of the lethal virus in Rangpur.
