DHAKA, May 12, 2020 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has so far
filed 15 cases and arrested several people over relief misappropriation
across the country amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

To this end, the ACC’s intelligence unit submitted a special report to ACC
chairman Iqbal Mahmood, said a press release of the commission today.

According to the report, 15 cases were filed against union parishad
chairmen, members and others during April 12 to May 11 this year for
allegedly plundering relief goods from the government’s social safety net
programme.

Investigation officers have been appointed in all cases and the probes in
all the cases are underway, the report said.

Iqbal Mahmood said those involved in relief plundering will be brought to
justice and nobody would be spared.

“Like other graft cases, the ACC is giving importance on the probes into
all the cases related relief stealing. If necessary, a special commission or
taskforce will be formed to monitor the investigation and prosecution
activities of these cases,” he added.
