Combined harvester machines distributed to Gaibandha farmers

GAIBANDHA, May 01, 2020 (BSS) – Two combined harvester machines worth TK 56 lakh were distributed to farmers of Sadar upazila in the district to help them harvest Boro and Aman paddy in short time and low cost on Thursday.

In this regard a distribution function, organized by Sadar upazila agriculture office, was held on its office premises of the town here in the afternoon.

Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini attended the function and handed over the documents regarding the combined harvesters to the farmers who purchased the machines with subsidized prices from the government as the chief guest.

Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Krishibid Masudur Rahman and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Prasun Kumar Chakrabartee were present as the special guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the agriculture and farmers’ friendly government.

The government took initiatives to distribute combined harvester machines at farmers’ level at 50 percent subsidized price so that they could harvest their paddy in short time and low cost during the age of globalization, she added.

She also suggested the farmers to use masks, and maintain social distancing side by side with washing hands with soaps repeatedly to check the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
