2 held with TCB’s 6,480 litres fair-price edible oil in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 13, 2020 (BSS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested two persons today with stockpiled 6,480 litres of soya-bean oil allocated by the government for sale at fair price amid the COVID-19 situation.

Police officials said a special team of the DB police of RpMP seized the edible oil of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) and arrested the men from a rented Godown in Alamnagar Robertsonganj area of the metropolis this afternoon.

As per direction of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, its Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (DB) of RpMP Uttam Prasad Pathok led the drive, seized the stockpiled edible oil and arrested the two persons.

Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) of RpMP Altaf Hossain, its Police Inspector Rajesh Kumar Chakraborty, Sub-inspector (SI) Md. Nahid Hasan and SI Md. Nazmul Islam with police forces participated in the drive.

The arrested persons are: Irfan Hasan Suman, 34, of Machhuapotti Alamnagar area and Harun-Ur-Rashid, 55, of Alamnagar Colony area in Ward No-27 under Kotwali police station of RpMP in the metropolis.

The DB police are conducting hectic raids at different areas to nab two absconding persons Rajib Hasan, 28, and Nayan Parvez, 34, of Alamnagar Colony area for their involvement with marketing of the edible oil of TCB.

The DB police seized stockpiled 324 cartoons containing 20 litres of soya-bean oil in four bottles in each carton totaling to 6,480 litres of the edible oil worth Taka 6.48 lakh from the rented Godown of Irfan Hasan Suman.

The DB police filed a case in this connection against four persons, including the two arrested two, under the Special Power Act of 1974 at Kotwali police station of RpMP today.

“After interrogation, Kotwali police will produce the arrested persons before a Rangpur court tomorrow (Tuesday),” Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) of RpMP Altaf Hossain told BSS at 5 pm.
