RANGPUR, April 4, 2020 (BSS) – The local administration has locked down eight houses in Janki Dhaperhat village of Saddyapuskorini union in Sadar upazila here after a man was tested positive with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Israt Sadia Sumi and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangpur Kotwali Sadar Thana ABM Sajedul Islam went to the village and locked down the houses this afternoon.

Talking to BSS this evening, Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. Hirombo Kumar Roy said the owner of the house, 50, had been working in a kitchen market of Karwan Bazar area of the capital Dhaka as a night guard for the last ten years.

“On last Sunday, as the man felt sick at Bogura point on his way back to his native village Janki Dhaperhat in Rangpur by a truck from Dhaka, he was admitted to a private hospital in Bogura town,” the CS said.

Later, a resident of College Road in Rangpur city, who is a son-in-law of the sick person, went to Bagura and met him at the hospital and came back to his father-in-law’s house in Janki Dhaperhat village where he stayed for sometime.
“On Wednesday last, the experts from the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) collected sample of the sick person and he was tested COVID-19 positive,” he said.

Accordingly, the local administrations locked down eight houses of village Janki Dhaperhat and hung red flags on those houses today.

“Sample of the son-in-law of the COVID-19 positive persons will be collected for testing and the residents of the eight houses should quarantine themselves at home for their safety,” the CS added.
