DHAKA, April 04, 2020 (BSS) – The Supreme Court (SC) today issued a circular with a couple of directives for courts across the country, considering the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission situation as critical.
In the circular signed by its Registrar General Md Ali Akbar, the apex court said all temporary court orders such as those granting bail, surrendering before lower court, staying case proceedings and issuing status quo will be extended for two weeks’ till reopening of the court.
The circular further said appeals can be filed without a certified copy on the day of reopening of the court, but a certified copy would have to be filed before start of the hearing on the appeals in connection with the cases filed under special laws.
The circular also added one or more magistrates are on duty in every Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in the district and in Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in metropolitan areas across the country.
The apex court issued the circular following a meeting between Chief Justice, Law Minister and judges of the Appellate Division.
The Supreme Court authorities have already declared general holiday in courts across the country till April 11 to prevent widespread of COVID-19.
