RAJSHAHI, April 4, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 1,792 people remained in home quarantine including 22 in institutional ones at present in all eight districts under Rajshahi division as part of the relentless efforts of halting coronavirus (COVID-19) spread.
A daily report related to the COVID-19 quarantine here today said 289 more people were released from quarantine as they completed their 14-day stay at home as quarantine period in the division over the past 24 hours till 8am today.
With this, the number of total released people from home-quarantine stood at 5,330 in the division, said Divisional Director of Health Dr Gopendra Nath Acharya.
He said a total of 7,122 people have, so far, been put under home quarantine since March 10 last to prevent community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Meanwhile, a total of 11 new persons have been kept under home quarantine in the division in the last 24 hours till this morning. Among the new ones, four have been home-quarantined in Rajshahi, three in Naogaon, three in Joypurhat and one in Pabna districts.
Dr Gopen Acharya said currently a total of 17 patients are undergoing treatment in isolation units and nine others were released in the division. He also said an integrated measure has been adopted to bring all the overseas returnees and other suspects under home quarantine to curb the virus spread.
Comprehensive efforts are continuing to ensure following the health related guidelines like staying at home, social distancing and washing hands with soap.
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) has become ready to tackle any adverse and emergency situation caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the region, said by its Deputy Director Dr Saiful Ferdous, adding adequate equipment and devices reached here for the doctors and paramedics to stay safe from the virus infection.
There is a stock of 4,400 personal protective equipment (PPE), 2,275 goggles, 20,000 masks, 25,000 caps and 25,000 gloves at present. The frontline persons like doctors and nurses in every ward were provided with security wares and gears.
“1600 beds kept ready and 5,000 personal protective equipment to face any emergency situation,” said Rajshahi divisional commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandaker.
All the district administrations and local government institutions including the Rajshahi City Corporation have adopted diversified measures, including creating awareness among the public in general through distributing leaflets and using loudspeakers.
Rice is being distributed among the daily wage earners as a part of the government’s instant humanitarian support to mitigate the economic hardship caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
