Bourses post modest gain

DHAKA, March 23, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) today registered a modest gain after a single day halt due to
the emergency crisis response effort from capital market regulator.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 3984.75 points on Monday with a jump of
24.57 points or 0.62 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index,
DSES also went up by 2.20 points and 2.14 points to settle at 1323.80 points
and 918.81 points respectively.

Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 2.54 billion,
which was higher over previous day’s mark of Taka 1.45 billion.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 51,546 trades were executed in
today’s trading session with a trading volume of 83.47 million securities.

Gainers took a lead over loser as out of 352 issues traded, 97 securities
gained price while 47 declined and 208 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of the DSE also rose to Taka 3,112 billion, from Taka 3,107
billion in the previous session.

The top ten gainers were Mercantile Bank, Central Pharma, ACI Formulation,
ACI Limited, Desh Garments, Peoples Insurance, Asia Pacific Insurance,
Premier Bank, Uttara Bank and Dutch-Bangla Bank.

Monno Ceramic topped the turnover chart followed by Apex Footwear, Orion
Pharma, Orion Infusion, Far Chemical, Linde Bangladesh, National Tubes,
Central Pharma, Mercantile Bank and Square Pharma.

The top 10 losers were Dulamia Cotton, MI Cement, International Leasing,
Islami Insurance Bangladesh, Meghna Cement, MBL 1st Mutual Fund, Ibne Sina
Pharmaceutical, Meghna Paint, Monno Ceramic and Kay & Que.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also
closed at Green maintaining the gaining streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI increased by 49.60 points and 84.84 points to stand at
6827.29 points and 11272.27 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 3,451,932 shares and mutual fund of 203 companies were
traded of which 53 issues advanced while 12 declined and 138 issues remained
unchanged.
