RANGPUR, Aug 12, 2017 (BSS) – Leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies at a discussion have said assassination of Bangabandhu was aimed at destroying the country’s independence through making the nation leaderless.
They were addressing the discussion organised by district unit of Jubo League (JL) at district AL office last night in observance of the National Mourning Day-2017 and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Earlier, Jubo League leaders placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, offered special munajats seeking divine blessings for the departed souls of Bangabandhu and most of his family members assassinated on August 15 in 1975.
Joint general secretary of district AL Shahinur Rahman Sohel attended the discussion as chief guest with joint convener of the unit Mamunur Rashid Mamun in the chair.
Office secretary of district AL Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, joint conveners of district Jubo League Kamruzzaman Shahin and Laksmin Chandra Das, convener of city Jubo League ABM Sirajum Munir Basher, among others, addressed.
The speakers said the August 15 assassinations of Bangabandhu and most of his family members in 1975 were part of a deep-rooted conspiracy aimed at destroying the independence.
The chief guest called upon the government for bringing back all absconding killers of Bangabandhu for execution of the verdict announced against them by court to free the nation from the stigma.
