Bangladesh on right track under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership: lawmakers

SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – Lawmakers both from treasury and opposition
benches today said Bangladesh is on right track to become a ‘Sonar Bangla’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh is moving forward properly under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister on
the way of becoming ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman by 2041, they said while taking part in the discussion on the thanksgiving
motion on President M Abdul Hamid’s 9 January address to the House.

The lawmakers also said that the culture of killing, coup and impunity has ended under her
(Sheikh Hasina’s) leadership as she brought the war criminals and perpetrators of the killings of Bangabandhu and national four leaders to the book.

Highlighting the government’s remarkable successes in different sectors, including power, health, education, economy, industry and socioeconomic, Professor Md Ali Ashraf said a wave of an overall revolution is blowing across the country since 2009-10 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dubbing the premier as a magic, the veteran AL lawmaker said once upon a time Bangladesh was
far behind in meeting the food demand of 7.5 crore people, but now it has become a food surplus country under her (Sheikh Hasina) leadership.

He went on saying due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s farmer-friendly initiative in line with the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ through emancipating the farmers, laborers and working people, the farmers spread out in the crop field and increased overall production, helping the country become a food surplus one.

Taking part in the discussion, Deputy Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change
Habibun Nahar underscored the need for public awareness to prevent the environmental
degradation and curb air pollution.

Noting that ongoing development activities are responsible for air pollution in the capital, she said the developers do not comply with any condition subject to follow in carrying out any development work for the sake of environment.

The deputy minister urged the developers to comply with the conditions and all brick field
owners to formulate a coordinated auto brick set framework for the sake of the country’s
environment.

Referring to the developments took place in different sectors of the country, she said Bangladesh is moving forward properly under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Jatiya Party lawmaker Fakhrul Imam underscored the need for checking the corruption, saying
that if irregularities and corruption can be prevented, extra revenue of Taka 112,000 crore could be collected every year, which would be equals to 5 percent of the total GDP.

The lawmakers thanked the President for his time-worthy speech, saying that President Abdul
Hamid in his 163-page speech has projected the government’s success in all sectors in the last 11 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and outlined the government’s future plans for transforming the country into a developed and prosperous one by 2041.

Highlighting the President’s speech on the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the lawmakers said celebration of Bangabandhu’s
birth centenary will remain as a milestone in the country’s history.

Earlier, the lawmakers paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman for his sacrifice and contribution to establish an independent Bangladesh. They also paid rich tributes to the national four leaders and martyrs of 1975 carnage.
