Bourses slip after single-day gain

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange
(DSE) slipped today after a single-day gain as cautious investors went on
selling on sector-wise large-cap stocks.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4481.79 points on Wednesday with a loss of
28.97 points or 0.64 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index,
DSES also went down by 17.25 points and 5.68 points to settle at 1526.44
points and 1028.71 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 131,793 trades were executed
in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 150.70 million
securities.

Losers took a strong lead over gainers as out of 355 issues traded, 114
securities gained price while 180 declined and 61 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were – KDS Accessories, Oimex Electrode, Mozaffar
Hossain Spinning, Makson Spinning, Metro Spinning, Malek Spinning, SEML FBSL
Growth Fund, Zaheen Spinning, Nahee Aluminum and Sonargaon Textile.

Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by BBS Cables,
SK Trims, British American Tobacco, Paramount Textile, BSCCL, ADN Telecom,
Grameenphone, VFS Thread and Square Pharma.

The top 10 losers were – MI Cement, National Tea, BD Lamps, Standard
Ceramics, Shinepukur Ceramics, Reneta, Eastern Cables, Sea Pearl Beach,
British American Tobacco and Premier Leasing.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also
closed at red from the winning streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 33.28 points and 51.84 points to stand at
8283.48 points and 13663.75 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 10,813,259 shares and mutual fund of 243 companies were
traded, of which 98 issues advanced while 112 declined and 33 issues remained
unchanged.
