RAJSHAHI, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – Sayeeda Rahman, a post-graduate in
Zoology with good result, has started business of various handicraft products
made by village women.

She has launched the business without any previous experience instead of
wasting time for searching any conventional job. “I have established an
enterprise named ‘Aparazita’ with my commitment of building it as a branded
entity,” she said.

In the meantime, she took a 15-day skill development training arranged
on behalf of the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Project (ESDP) which
is being implemented with initiative of Bangladesh Investment Development
Authority (BIDA).

Sayeeda said the training has enhanced her level of confidence to a
greater extent in terms of becoming self-reliant. She is intended to
establish economic foundation for the rural women who are engaged in various
handicraft products.

To this end, she is interested to set up sheep farm commercially and a
woolen factory. At present, she detected the capital as major obstacle
towards materialising her dreaming venture.

Shakila Bashar Shimul obtained MS degree in Electrical and Electronics
Engineering around seven years back. She was also in teaching profession in a
private university for five years.

Recently, she has completed the 15-day entrepreneurship development
training course effectively aimed at transforming her into a successful
entrepreneur.

Online business-woman Shakila is now adamant to build her own identity
through transforming her into a proficient entrepreneur. She has a
fascination to work with silk industry.

Tonushree Ghosh and Kamrun Nahar Mitu, both now are the third year
honours students in Rajshahi College, attained inspiration from the
entrepreneurship development training.

They want to set up a bakery and button factories jointly to build their
fortunes.

After getting the training Shifatun Nahar Meem, a post-graduate in
English, has started catering business.

Munira Matin Zonaki, local unit president of Bangladesh Women Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, said after getting training, many women are dreaming
of becoming successful entrepreneurs here side by side with the men.

ESDP’s training programme has been going on in the city since September
last setting the target of imparting training to 375 young entrepreneurs both
male and female in 15 batches within the next two years. 125 of them have
already received training in five batches.

District Trainer Jamila Afsary Alam told BSS that the main goal of the
training is to expand the investment field through involving the workable
people in all the productive economic activities.

BIDA has a target to build 100 powerful women entrepreneurs in the city
this year to mark the celebration of Mujib Barsha, birth centenary of Father
of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said BIDA Divisional
Director AKM Benjamin Riazi.

Liakat Ali, President of Rajshahi Silk Industries Owners Association,
said many women are seen establishing small and cottage industries. He,
however, said many of the existing problems in this field could be solved if
Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) office were set up here.
