11 BRTC buses gutted in city

DHAKA June 9, 2018 (BSS) – Eleven buses, including five double deckers, of
Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) were gutted in a fire in the
city’s Khilket area early today.

The fire was brought out at a bus depot of BRTC around 1.30 am today,
BRTC assistant deputy director Salahuddin Ahmed told BSS.

He said six units of the Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot
and doused the flame around 4:20 am today.

The reason behind the inferno and its loss could not be known immediately,
Salahuddin said, adding that BRTC would form a committee to probe the
incident.

Earlier, Bangladesh Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told
reporters at a preparatory meeting on upcoming the Eid that eight of the
damaged buses were out of order previously.

He asked the authorities concerned to conduct a probe into the incident.
