Mega projects to be under special supervision: Muhith

DHAKA, June 07, 2018 (BSS) – Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said the government would keep the 10 large projects under the special supervision to accelerate their implementation.

“Ten growth-generating large projects, identified as ‘Mega Projects’, have been brought under special supervision of the Prime Minister for rapid implementation,” he said while unveiling the budget for the next fiscal 2018-19 (FY19) in the Jatiya Sangsad here.

He said a high powered ‘Fast Track Monitoring Committee’ headed by the Prime Minister has been formed for close monitoring of these projects.

On the other hand, the finance minister said, ‘Fast Track Taskforce’ has been formed headed by the Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister Office for monitoring implementation of the decisions of this Committee.

The projects are: Padma Multi-purpose Bridge Project, Padma Rail Bridge Project, Ruppur Nuclear Power Project, Rampal Coal Based Power Project, Chattogram-Dohajari to Ramu-Coxes Bazar and Ramu-Gundum Railway Construction Project, Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project, Construction of Payra Sea port (First Phase) Project, Sonadia Deep Sea port, Matarbari Ultra Super Critical Coal Fired Power Project and Construction of Maheshkhali Floating LNG Terminal Project.
