Ashraf stresses natural resources’ best usages to boost production

RAJSHAHI, Dec 7, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock
Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru has called for best usages of existing natural
resources and modern technologies to boost fish and livestock production to
achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

He came up with emphasis while sharing views with the divisional, district
and upazila level officials of the fisheries and livestock services
departments at Nanking Convention Hall here last night as the chief guest.

The state minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working
relentlessly to take the country ahead. So, all the officials and others
concerned should supplement the premier’s endeavor through discharging their
respective duties with utmost sincerity and honesty, he said.

He was apprised of local achievements and problems of the two concerned
departments in all 67 upazilas under eight districts of Rajshahi division.

Director General of the Directorate of Fisheries Kazi Shams Afroz, Director
General of the Directorate of Livestock Services Dr Abdul Jabbar Shikder and
Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Dr Nathuram
Sarker addressed the meeting as special guests with Deputy Director of Local
Government Division Parvej Raihan in the chair.

Ashraf Ali Khan asked concerned officials to help local people establish
small cattle farms and expand fish farming for improving their living and
livelihood conditions.

He stressed the role of fisheries and livestock sectors to ensure food
security along with fulfilling the existing protein demands through boosting
fish, milk, meat and egg production.
