9 migrants killed after boat sinks in Mediterranean near southern Turkey
ANKARA, June 3, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – At least nine migrants died and one
went missing after a speedboat sank on Sunday off the coast of Turkey’s
southern province of Antalya, the Turkish Coast Guard said.
Five people were rescued, the source added.
The incident occurred near Kekova Geyikova Island, 2.5 miles (4 km)
southwest of Demre district in Antalya.
The Turkish Coast Guard immediately dispatched a corvette, four boats, an
airplane and a helicopter to the scene.
The search and rescue teams later found nine bodies, including six
children, two men and a woman.
