DHAKA, Nov 17, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today sent a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking detailed information about the bilateral instruments signed with India during her visit to the neighbouring country last month.

Two joint secretaries general of BNP — Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Khairul Kabir Khokon — took the letter, signed by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) here this morning.

On behalf of the premier, her Special Assistant Barrister Biplab Barua received the letter, a PMO source told BSS.

When the two BNP leaders reached the PMO around 11:40 am, Biplab Barua welcomed them. He later exchanged pleasantries with them covering political and personal issues and later entertained.

Receiving the letter, Biplab Barua said: “I’ve accepted the letter on behalf of the honourable prime minister who is now on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). After her return (home), I’ll reach the letter to her.”

PM’s Private Secretary-2 Wahida Aktar, Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Zahid Tusher and Assistant Press Secretary MM Emrul Kayas were present on the occasion, the source said.

On November 2, in a standing committee meeting at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, the party took a decision to write to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to know the details of the bilateral instruments Bangladesh had signed with India during the premier’s recent visit to New Delhi.
