DB files charge sheet against 25 in Abrar murder case

DHAKA, Nov 13, 2019 (BSS) – Detective branch (DB) of police today filed
charge sheet against 25 in sensational Bangladesh University of Engineering
and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad murder case.

Confirming the matter to BSS, investigation officer (IO) and DB
inspector Wahiduzzaman said, of the total number of accused, 21 have been
arrested so far in the case.

“Of these 25, names of 16 were there in the first information report
(FIR), five were out of FIR and four are yet to be arrested,” he said.

Of the charge sheeted accused, names of – Mehedi Hasan Russel, Anik
Sarker, Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, Md Mehedi Hasan Robin, Md Meftahul Islam Jeon,
Muntassir Alam Jemmy, Khandaker Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir, Md Muzahidur
Rahman, Muhtasim Fuad, Md Moniruzzaman Monir, Md Akash Hossain, Hossain
Mohammad Toha, Md Mazedul Islam, Shamim Billah, Moaj Abu Hurayra and ASM
Nazmus Sadat, were there in the FIR.

Names of Istiak Ahammed Munna, Amit Saha, Md Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan,
Shamsul Arefin Rafat and SM Mahmud Setu came in the investigation, while
Morsheduzzaman Jisan, Ehteshamul Rabbi Tanim, Morshed Amatya Islam and
Mostaba Rafid are yet to be arrested.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMPs) additional commissioner Monirul Islam
at a press briefing marking the filing of charge sheet, said of the 25
accused, 11 took part in the gruesome murder directly and the other played
role in the crime one way or another.

Of those arrested, eight have given confessional statements before
court.

Earlier in the morning Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Qaisarul
Islam set November 18 to submit probe report in the case.

BUET students and the varsity authorities found seemingly lifeless body
of Abrar, 22, on first-floor stairs of Sher-e-Bangla Hall and rushed him to
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at
around 6.30 am on October 7.

Abrar’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19.
