48 entrepreneurs of industrial sector to get CIP cards

DHAKA, Nov 13, 2019 (BSS) – The government will award 48 entrepreneurs
with commercially important person (CIP) (Industry) cards for their
outstanding performances in respective fields in 2017.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun will hand over the CIP
cards among the awardees at a function to be held at Sonargaon Hotel in the
capital on November 20, said Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim at a press
conference at the Industries Ministry in the city.

Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Affairs Adviser Salman
Fazlur Rahman, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, and
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(FBCCI) Sheikh Fazle Fahim will be present as special guests at the function.

Out of the 48 entrepreneurs, Abdul Halim said, 42 will receive the
status for their outstanding performances in eight categories while six will
get the status under the ex-officio category.

“Among the 42 businessmen, 15 will receive CIP cards for large industries
(production) while five for large industries (service), nine for medium
industries (production), three for medium industry (service), five for small
industries (production), one for small industries (service), two for micro
industries and two for cottage industries,” he added.

He informed that Abdul Matlub Ahmed will receive CIP card as president
of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI)
while Md Siddiqur Rahman as president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers
and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Rupali Haque Chowdhury as president of the
Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Selima Ahmed as
president of the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI),
Salahuddin Kasem Khan as President of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation
(BEF) and Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon as president of the National Association of
Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB).

Halim said a total of 340 businessmen have already received the CIP
cards since 2009

The CIP card holders enjoy a number of facilities, including priority in
seat reservation at government transports in air, road, rail and waterways,
getting invitation at national events and letter of introduction from foreign
ministry for getting visa to visit aboard, he added.

He said the government is providing special focus on industrialization
to achieve the Vision-2041 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
