KUSHTIA, Nov 12, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said all wrongdoers and opportunists will not get any place in fresh committees of the party.
“As per the party decision, those who have links with wrongdoings will be removed from the new committees of Awami League,” he told reporters before joining the triennial council of Kushtia town unit of AL at Kushtia Islamia College ground here.
Hanif said many opportunists and wrongdoers intruded into Awami League as the party stays in power for 11 years last.
Those who have involvement with drug addiction, terrorism and war crimes will be removed from the party through fresh councils, he added.
Later, the council session was inaugurated through hoisting of national and party flags.
After the discussion of the council session, a 71-member committee was announced through the council making valiant freedom fighter Taijal Ali Khan and Ataur Rahman Ata as president and general secretary respectively of the Kushtia town unit of AL.
Marking the council, the entire Kushtia town wore a festive look as different key points were decorated and illuminated colorfully.
Kushtia district AL President Sadar Uddin Khan inaugurated the council with Kushtia town AL President Taijal Ali Khan in the chair.
Lawmaker of Kushtia-4 constituency AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha, Awami League Central Working Committee members SM Kamal Hossain and Md Golam Kabir Rabbani Chinu, Kushtia district AL former general secretary and municipality mayor Anwar Ali, Kushtia district AL general secretary freedom fighter Azgar Ali and senior vice-president Babiul Islam, among others, addressed it.
Kushtia town AL general secretary and sadar upazila chairman Ataur Rahman Ata moderated the council.
The last council of Kushtia town AL was held in 2012.
