Workshop on migrant workers held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, May 31, 2018 (BSS) -Officials at a views-exchange workshop here
have said the present government puts maximum importance on strengthening
services for Bangladeshi migrant workers to ensure their welfare both at home
and abroad.

The Wage Earners’ Welfare Board (WEWB) of the Expatriates’ Welfare and
Overseas Employment Ministry and International Labour Organisation (ILO)
jointly organised the event in the conference room of deputy commissioner
(DC) on Wednesday afternoon.

Director (Finance and Welfare) of the WEWB and joint secretary of the
ministry Md Shafiqul Islam attended the workshop titled ‘Strengthening
Services for Bangladeshi Migrant Workers` as the chief guest.

With Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair, acting president of
district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, director (local government) for
Rangpur Ruhul Amin Mian, assistant director of District Employment and
Manpower Office Amena Pervin, principal of Rangpur Technical Training Centre
Md Lutfar Rahman, addressed the workshop as special guests.

Three Bangladeshi migrant workers Matia Begum, Rafik Mian and Harun-Ar-
Rashid narrated their experiences while working in Saudi Arabia.

The chief guest called upon the overseas job-seekers for availing the huge
facilities being provided by the present government to ensure safer migration
aboard to enhance national economy through keeping remittance inflow
increasing.

The chief guest also handed over cheques for Taka 3-lakh of the WEWB to
each of the family members of three expatriate Bangladeshi migrant workers
who died while working abroad.
