RpCC’s Harijan employees rallies to home their demands

RANGPUR, May 31, 2018 (BSS) – The Harijan community working at Rangpur
City Corporation (RpCC) have rallied for increasing their salaries in
accordance with the market price, appointing them on priority basis and
ensuring job security.

They forwarded the demands at a rally arranged under the banner of
‘Harijan Adhikar Aday Sangathan (HAAS)’ on Press Club premises here on
Wednesday.

They submitted a memorandum to Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman
Mostafa at his office for realising their demands after bringing out a
procession from Press Club premises to the City Bhaban.

With President of HAAS Suresh Basfor in the chair, it’s General
Secretary Shaju Basfor and members Sujan Basfor, Suman Basfor and Sarat
Basfor addressed the pre-procession rally.

The HAAS leaders said over 500 Harijan people are working as cleaners at
RpCC and cleaning dirt in all offices, drainage and sewerage systems and
dustbins to implement the city planning programmes and ensure cleanliness in
the city.

Shaju Basfor said the Harijan community people are not getting necessary
tools from the RpCC and working amid unhygienic condition. Our pregnant
women do not get maternity leave.

Suresh Basfor called upon the RpCC authority for re-fixing their
salaries in accordance with market price and launching their festival bonus,
pension facilities, posthumous financial assistance, maternity leave for
pregnant women and providing them with necessary tools for conducting
cleaning activities safely.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to Mayor Mostafa and called upon him
to realise their demands.
