PM mourns death of painter Kalidas Karmakar

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of internationally-acclaimed artist Kalidas Karmakar.

In a condolence message, the prime minister said the painter was specially acclaimed among the artists for his glowing art works which portrayed the animated picture of ever-existent Bangla.

“His (Karmakar) art works will continue to inspire the new generations,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Karmakar, the Ekushey Award-winning painter, passed away at a private hospital in Dhaka at the age of 73 today.
