BCL expels Amit Saha over Abrar murder

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) today
expelled its BUET unit leader Amit Saha over his alleged involvement in
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar
Fahad murder.

Abrar Fahad, 22, a second-year student of electrical and electronics
engineering (EEE) department was beaten to death in his dormitory naming
Sher-E-Bangla Hall of BUET in the early hours on October 07.

BCL central acting president Al-Nahean khan Joy and acting general
secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee today in a press release exposed the permanent
expulsion of its BUET unit deputy law secretary and a civil engineering
department student Amit Saha who was arrested on October 10 in connecting
with the killing.

“Though Amit was not present on the spot when the incident was taken
place, his involvement with the incident were proven during further
investigation. He was involved through conversation in the social media,” the
press release said.

Earlier, BCL formed a two-member probe committee over the incident with
BCL Vice-President Iyaz Al Riad and Literature Secretary Asif Talukder as its
members. BCL expelled 11 leaders’ of BUET unit on October 7 after an
investigation.

“A total of 12 leaders have been expelled from our organisation so far.
We are continuing our investigation and organizational steps will be taken if
any others’ involvement is found,” Iyaz AL Riad told BSS.
