Another accused confesses involvement in Abrar killing

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2019 (BSS) – Mehedi Hasan Robin, one of the accused in
the case lodged over beating (BUET) student Abrar Fahad to death at the wee
hours of October 7, today confessed his involvement in the gruesome murder.

Investigation officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman
produced Robin before court this afternoon and pleaded to record his
statement under section 164.

Allowing the plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain
recorded Robin’s confessional statement and sent him to jail afterwards.

The court on October 8 placed Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Muhtasim Fuad, Anik
Sarker, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Sefayetul Islam Jiyon, Ishtiaq Munna, Khandaker
Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir, Mozahidur Rahman, Muntamir Al Jemmy and Mehedi
Hasan Robin, on five-day remand.

Of those ten accused, Mozahidur Rahaman, Anik Sarkar Apu, Ifti Mosharraf
Sokal and Meftahul Islam Jiyon already gave confessional statement before
different Dhaka courts.

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students and
the varsity authorities found Abrar, 22, on first-floor stairs of Sher-e-
Bangla Hall and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where
doctors declared him dead at around 6.30 am.

Abrar’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19
people.
