Resistance from all needs to eliminate drug abuse: Menon

DHAKA, May 29, 2018 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon
today underscored the need for resistance of people from all strata of life
to eliminate abuse of drugs from society.

“Teachers should play a crucial role to keep the new generation free from
abuse of drugs,” he told a view-exchange with teachers on “Building
resistance against drugs, terrorism and militancy” at Siddheswari University
College here.

He said now the clutch of drugs is not limited to Dhaka city rather the
menace has reached to rural high schools.

The abuse of drugs is no longer a matter to ignore as it has become a great
concern for the society, the minister added.

He underscored the need for raising consciousness against drug abuse among
students at school, college and university level to save young generation
from destruction.

Menon said the government has declared war on drug abuse so that
countrywide drives are being carried out against the menace.

Siddheswari College Principal Professor Julhas Uddin chaired the view-
exchange while Ramna thana unit of Awami League president Mokhlesur Rahman,
local ward AL and Workers Party leaders were present on the occasion.
