Indonesian engineer electrocuted in city

DHAKA, Sept 17, 2019 (BSS) – An Indonesian mechanical engineer died after
being electrocuted while working at a power station of Dhaka Power
Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC)) on Dhaka University campus this morning.

The deceased was identified as Taufiq Hedayet, 36, an Indonesian citizen.
He used to live at Siddirganj in Narayanganj. Detailed information about his
identity could not be ascertained immediately.

Quoting Hadayet’s colleagues, police said he came in contact with a live
electric wire around 10am while he was pumping gas into a machine at the
under-construction power station adjacent to DU Shahidullah Hall playground,
leaving him unconscious.

He was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty
doctor declared him dead around 10:45 am.

In-charge of DMCH police outpost Bachchu Mia confirmed the death.

The body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
