RAB held 2 with 1,102 bottles phensidyl in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 15, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) has seized 1,102 bottles of smuggled phensidyl, a truck and arrested two presumed drug traffickers from Shantipur point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway in Mithapukur upazila of the district.

“On a tip off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Special Company of RAB-13 from Rangpur conducted a sudden raid there, seized the smuggled phensidyl, truck and arrested the drug traffickers on Saturday evening,” a press release said here today.

The arrested drug traffickers are driver of the stone-laden Dhaka bound truck from Burimari Land Port (BLP) in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat Sirajul Islam, 30, and his helper Saminul Islam, 18, of different villages in Dimla upazila of Nilphamari district.

The phensidyl bottles were put below loaded stones aboard the truck with assistance of the truck owner and other 2/3 persons in a special manner at Hatibandha point on the way to dodge eyes of the law enforcement agencies while carrying those to Dhaka city.

“During interrogation, arrested drug traffickers admitted that they had been involved in trafficking and trading of drugs like phensidyl while carrying stones by truck from BLP in Lalmonirhat to Dhaka and its adjoining areas for a long time,” the release added.

The elite force continues search for other absconding drug traffickers and traders and handed over two arrested persons to Mithapukur Thana police today after filing a case against them in this connection.
