2nd anti-dengue drive starts on Sunday: Atiqul

DHAKA, Sept 12, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor
Atiqul Islam today said the second anti-dengue drive will begin on Sunday.

“DNCC’s first anti-dengue drive started on August 25. Aedes larvae was
found in a total number of 1,957 houses and places under 36 wards of the city
corporation during the 12-day drive…In continuance to that the second drive
will start on September 15”, DNCC Mayor said.

Atiqul said these while talking to journalists after inaugurating the
development work of a playground adjacent to Humayun Road in Mohammadpur.
Mentioning that DNCC successfully destroyed a total of 67,306 breeding
grounds of Aedes mosquito during the first drive, he expressed hope that city
dwellers would cooperate with the upcoming drive.

“I am working under the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to free
the occupied playgrounds and transform them into playable ones as sports and
exercise can keep youths from drug addiction and terrorism,” he added.

Md Sadek Khan, MP, and senior officials of DNCC, among others, were
present on the occasion.
