RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2019 (BSS) – Rajshahi University of Engineering and
Technology (RUET) has observed “University Day” amid joy, enthusiasm and
fanfare marking its 16th founding anniversary today.
The day’s programme began in the morning with hoisting of national flag
followed by plantation of tree saplings and launching of a database on
campus.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Professor Rafiqul Islam Sheikh
opened the daylong programmes.
Marking the day, a large number of teachers, students and staff brought
out a colorful rally that paraded through the campus. A discussion was also
held at the Central auditorium.
Addressing a brief meeting on the occasion, VC Prof Islam sought
cooperation from all quarters to run the university peacefully and
successfully.
He said a total of 1,230 new students are being enrolled in 18
departments in the technological university every year at present and around
3,500 students are availing the education opportunity in total.
“We have adopted a Taka 600-crore mega plan for elevating the academic
activities through more need-based infrastructure development,” Prof Islam
added.
