BARGUNA, Aug 07, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a young man to death penalty and two others to life term imprisonment for killing a college student six years back.
District and Sessions Judge Md Asaduzzaman handed down the verdict to Salauddin, 25, a resident in Barguna municipality area, Nazmul, 26, inhabitant in Goirichanna area and Rubel, 25, hailed from Thanapara area in the municipality.
Among the convicts, Salauddin was awarded death sentence.
According to the prosecution, the convicts abducted Anik Chandra Rao from
Thanapara in the municipality in the evening on September 19 in 2013.
They asked his father for ransom over cell phone.
Anik’s father Shubol Chandra Rao agreed to pay ransom of Tk 3 lakh, but
failed to contact with the perpetrators later.
He filed a general diary following the abduction next day.
The diary later turned into the murder case.
After 17 days, police recovered Anik’s decomposed body from a septic tank
in the town.
Police submitted the charge sheet accusing Salauddin, Nazmul and Rubel.
