International Nurses Day-2018 observed in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 13, 2018 (BSS)-Efficiency improvement through serving patients with affection and humanity is very important towards gaining success in nursing profession.

Boosting the number of skilled and devoted nurses is also necessity to address the gradually mounting demands as new more challenges are emerging in this sector day by day.

The observation came at a post-rally discussion at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) auditorium in the city on Saturday.

Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) unit of Bangladesh Nurses Association (BNA) organized the rally and discussion to mark the International Nurses Day-2018.

Director of RMCH Brigadier General Jamilur Rahman addressed the meeting as chief guest with BNS local unit president Elora Parveen in the chair.

General secretary of RMC Teachers Association Dr Mahbubur Rahman Khan, RMCH Nursing Superintendent Aleara Khatun and its Deputy Superintendent Badar Uddin and BNS local unit general secretary Moyej Uddin also spoke.

Brig Gen Rahman termed nurses as daughters, wives and mothers of the nation and said nursing is the most important healthcare profession in the world and nurses play a key role in all of medical institutions, being responsible for the welfare, safety and recovery of patients.

“The wealth of our nation depends on the health of our population and the health of our population depends on nursing,” he added.

“Nurses should be well trained and educated for maintaining good health and wellness of the patients in all aspects including physical, psychosocial and social, “he said adding that nurses have to have practical knowledge on delivering healthcare services efficiently.
