RANGPUR, July 29, 2019 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to come to her constituency Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) on a three-day visit tomorrow (Tuesday), local Awami League (AL) and official
sources said.
Dr. Shirin will take part in a number of programmes on Tuesday and
Wednesday before leaving Pirganj for Dhaka by air from Syedpur Airport on
Thursday morning.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Speaker will distribute saree among 1,500 poor
and distressed women of all 15 unions of Pirganj upazila at a function to be
arranged at Government Shah Abdur Rouf College ground as the chief guest.
On Wednesday, Dr. Shirin will inaugurate the three-day Fruit Tree Fair-
2019 that will be organised by Upazila Agriculture Office on Pirganj upazila
parisahd premises in the morning.
At noon, she will hand over 285 houses among beneficiary families who have
lands but not houses under the Asrayan-2 project at a function to be held at
Pirganj upazila parisahd auditorium.
Dr. Shirin will distribute prizes among winner students of six educational
institutions of the upazila at concluding function of the Reading of Bok on
the War of Liberation Competitions at the same venue.
She will unveil cover of the Annual Diary of Pirganj upazila parisahd and
distribute the same among officials and civil society members and easy-term
loans among six members of the ethnic communities under the ‘My House, My
farm’ project there.
The Speaker will distribute allowances among 11,974 older citizens, 5,436
divorces and repressed women, new allowance books and allowances among 2,955
physically challenged people on behalf of the Department of Social Services.
She will also distribute 206 multimedia projectors and heads of different
educational institutions on behalf of the Upazila Education Office and eight
wheel chairs among physically handicapped people.
Besides, the Speaker will inaugurate development and beautification works
of the attractive Neel Dariya Parjatan Spot at Chatra and Mosquito
Elimination Programme through spraying of insecticides in the upazila on
Wednesday afternoon.
Talking to BSS, General Secretary of Pirganj upazila Awami League and
Pirganj municipal mayor Tazimul Islam Shamim and Upazila Nirbahi Officer TMA
Momin said preparations have been completed to make the Speaker’s Pirganj
visit successful.
