 DHAKA, May 6, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said peace and security at all level of the society is the most important prerequisite for country’s development.

So, she urged everybody to make their efforts to establish peace and security in the society saying one day Bangladesh would emerge as a developed country as its independence earned at the cost of huge blood cannot go in vein.

The prime said this while addressing a function at her Gonobhaban residence here today marking publication of the result of this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations of ten education boards.

The prime minister said hundred percent literacy is also required to build poverty and hunger free Bangladesh. Bangladesh needs many golden sons in the coming days to build the ‘Golden Bengal’ of Bangabandhu.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over a summary of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Gonobhaban residence this morning.

Later, chairmen of ten education boards handed over the result of their respective board to the prime minister.

Seventy seven point seventy seven (77.77) percent students came out successfully in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations, 2.58 percent less than last year.

State Minister for Madrasa and Technical Education Department Kazi Keramat Ali also spoke on the occasion.

Principal Secretary Md. Nazibur Rahman conducted the program which was connected with Barisal and Bandarban district through video conference.

A total of 20,26,514 students from 28,558 educational institutions under 10 educational boards appeared in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.

Out of them 15,74,104 students became successful with 1,10,629 obtaining GPA-5.

In the SSC examination held under eight education boards 79.40 percent students came out successfully while the pass rate in the Madrasa Education Board is 70.89 percent and 71.96 percent in the Technical Education Board.

The SSC and equivalent examinations were held from February 1 to Mar 4 this year.

Pointing out the steps taken by her government to give support to education sector the Prime Minister said the government is giving scholarship to the students up to post graduate level to pursue their studies.

While talking to the students and officials of Bandarban and Barishal districts through video conference the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said her government has a plan to build more residential schools in remote areas of the country and Chittagong Hill Tracts.

“Despite substantial improvement of overall communications system across the country, but remote areas need more residential schools to facilitate the students to pursue their studies perfectly,” she said.

“It’s not a matter to us who is hilly and who is Bangali. We look to the education and welfare of every people,” she said.

The prime minister urged the officials introduce mid day meal in all schools.
